Vision
CIMA believes in the
American dream. The dream for a better life safe from fear,
oppression, exploitation, and injustice. We know newcomers to this
country also believe in this dream. Every day CIMA supports new
immigrant families as they reach for the American dream. We support
them because our ancestors were immigrants, too. The American dream
was the driving force in their lives. Many of our ancestors
suffered discrimination based on race, religion, ethnic origin, sex,
and sexual orientation. Many left loved ones and families behind.
They all took risks and made sacrifices to pursue their dream,
and our ancestors prevailed. Thus, we understand the struggles of
this generation of immigrants. We share the dream that brought them
to America, and we are committed to supporting and helping new
immigrants reach the better life they seek in America.
Tragically, new immigrants are
vulnerable to those who would take advantage of the immigrant's lack
of understanding of our language, culture, and economic and
political systems. Young families with limited resources are the
most vulnerable, yet they are special treasures for America because
they bring not only our future citizens but also the energy, hard
work and dreams which enrich of culture. We strive to support and
assist the new immigrant in their quest to realize the American
dream.
